Bohemian Writers Retreat in Heart of The Old TownApartment - Edinburgh
Wireless internet connection
We have a little slice of peace in the heart of Grassmarket, The Old Town. It is a writer's retreat, quiet and relaxing but just a stone's throw away from an abundance of the best bars and restaurants in the city.
It is our Western home when in the UK, and is a relaxing and simple space compiled with art and items from our fifty years of travel around the world, and somewhere you can feel totally relaxed.
Our space is one double bedroom with large built in storage space. There is a living space in which you can relax with two day beds on either side, a writing desk, television with digi box. The windows are double glazed blocking out any noise from The Old Town. The kitchen is completely equipped for all you need, and the bathroom has just been refurbished with powerful overhead walk-in shower.

The Old Town has preserved its medieval plan and many Reformation-era buildings. One end is closed by the castle and the main artery The High Street (or the Royal Mile) leads away from it; minor streets (called closes or wynds) bud off the main spine in a herringbone pattern. Large squares mark the location of markets or surround major public buildings such as St Giles Cathedral and the Law Courts. Other notable places of interest nearby include the Royal Museum of Scotland, Surgeons' Hall, the Royal Festival Theatre, and the University of Edinburgh. The street layout, typical of the old quarters of many northern European cities, is made especially picturesque in Edinburgh, where the castle perches on top of a rocky crag, the remnants of a dormant volcano, and the main street runs down the crest of a ridge from it.
There are a large number of buses running through the old town, and a bus stop directly outside the apartment that services the city. You can download the Lothian Buses/Transport for Edinburgh app to your phone and easily navigate the city's public transport.
ALTIDO Scotland wants you to have a fantastic stay, so encourage you to see the space as a home away from home - treating it as though it is yours! There are, of course, a few things we politely ask guests to note before their arrival and throughout their stay:
- Strictly no smoking, no parties, no pets
- Dispose of rubbish appropriately
- Keep the property clean and tidy
- Whilst washing up and stripping the beds at check out would be appreciated, it is by no means expected
- Quiet hours are between 10:00 PM and 9:00 AM. Please keep the noise down and respect other neighbours in the building
- Please remember to close all windows and doors when leaving the space
- To ensure the safety of our current and future guests, we ask all guests to complete our online check-in form and to provide a valid form of identification.
- Careful attention to the keys is extremely important. Guests are responsible for any additional costs resulting from misplaced keys or locksmith call-outs.
